The Medicaid National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Policy Manual is made available annually and is located on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website as is general information and announcements regarding The Medicaid National Correct Coding Initiative.

In addition, both the Medicaid NCCI Technical Guidance Manual and Medicaid NCCI Correspondence Language Manual are available on The Medicaid National Correct Coding Initiative web page, specifically within the NCCI for Medicaid column located on the left-hand side of the web page.

Past versions of the Medicaid NCCI Policy Manual are available within the Archive. The Archive area is located on the Medicaid NCCI Policy Manual web page at the bottom.

The Medicaid NCCI Edit Files web page lists the available coding edits, including each of the following:

• Procedure to Procedure (PTP) edits – NCCI PTP edits for HCPCS/CPT codes apply to services reported by the same provider/supplier for the same beneficiary on the same date of service. These files are located at the bottom of the Medicaid NCCI Edit Files web page within the "Related Downloads" area and include each of the following:
  • Practitioner Services
  • Outpatient Hospital Services
  • Durable Medical Equipment Services
• Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs) – NCCI MUE edits are either claim line edits or date of service edits. If the unit on the claim line exceeds the MUE value, the claim line will be denied. These files are also located at the bottom of the Medicaid NCCI Edit Files web page within the "Related Downloads" area and include each of the following:
  • Practitioner Services
  • Outpatient Hospital Services
  • Durable Medical Equipment Services

Note: PTP and MUE tables are updated by Medicaid quarterly.
